Crossroads Distribution, a leading logistics and transportation company in South Africa, has announced the acquisition of seven new GRW Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) tankers.
These cutting-edge tankers are designed to streamline operations and meet the growing demand for heavy fuel oil transport across South Africa.
Sash Ismael, Contract Manager Black Products, at Crossroads Distribution, says of the new additions: “These tankers are designed for efficiency and will significantly reduce turnaround times. The ability to heat and keep the cargo warm during transit will drastically improve offloading times, ensuring smoother operations for our clients.”
Key features of the GRW HFO Tankers include:
- Enhanced efficiency and turnaround Times: the tankers are equipped with steam heating capabilities to keep products warm, reducing offloading times and optimising operational efficiency.
- Improved drainage: the built-in slope between compartments ensures better drainage, meaning quicker offloading and no product left behind. This not only saves time but ensures maximum efficiency.
- Lighter spec aluminium ladder and walkway: fitted with a lighter aluminium ladder and walkway, these tankers allow for better payload capacity while adhering to standard GRW specifications.
- Highly visible markers: the entire tanker adheres to South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) requirements, with highly visible markers for added safety and compliance.
Three of the seven tankers will also be fitted with pumps and meters in the next six weeks, providing enhanced precision during offloading and increased flexibility for various operations.
Versatile applications
The new HFO tankers can transport heavy furnace oil, edible oils, emulsions and molasses, making them versatile assets for Crossroads Distribution’s diverse customer base. “These tankers are rugged and built for South Africa’s tough conditions, which means they can reliably service industries in remote or mining areas,” Ismael adds.
