Engen and Valterra Platinum have joined forces to support learners across five schools in Limpopo, demonstrating a shared commitment to education and community upliftment.
The Back-to-School Winter Campaign reached schools in Mashashane, Ga-Chuene, Ga-Maja and Solomondale in Polokwane, where learners received much-needed school essentials to help them remain focused, confident and prepared for the school year ahead.
The beneficiary schools included Jawe Jawe Secondary School, Tshehlo Secondary School, Mahloged Secondary School, Baphutheng Secondary School and Mafolofolo Secondary School.
As part of the initiative, the partners distributed 40 school uniforms and 40 pairs of school shoes to each school.
The campaign visited schools between 11 and 13 May 2026, helping to ease the burden on families while promoting dignity and improved learning conditions for learners.
This marks the first collaboration between Engen and Valterra Platinum on a CSI initiative, affirming both organisations’ commitment to making a positive impact in the communities in which they operate.
Simlindele Manqina, Engen’s Manager of Transformation and Stakeholder Engagement, said the initiative demonstrated the value of meaningful partnerships.
“As the saying goes, coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress and working together is success. The dedication to uplifting communities located in areas of our respective operations, both as Engen and Valterra Platinum, was demonstrative of this.”
Olwethu Mdabula, Engen’s CSI Manager, said education remains one of the company’s key social investment priorities.
“As winter approaches, we recognise that when learners have the essentials they need, they are better equipped to succeed. Through partnerships such as this one with Valterra Platinum, we are able to extend our reach and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.”
The Limpopo initiative forms part of Engen’s broader national Back-to-School campaign, which has already seen the company donate 900 pairs of school shoes to learners in disadvantaged communities across South Africa.
Building on the success of previous campaigns, Engen continues to invest in initiatives that promote dignity, improve access to education and create sustainable impact in communities nationwide.
