From automation to analysis: AATF introduces Future Labs Africa.

Africa Automation Technology Fair (AATF) introduces Future Labs Africa, a new pavilion platform dedicated to laboratory science, analytical testing, and innovation across Southern Africa. Built by RX Africa, the inaugural edition will take place from 11 to 13 May 2027 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

A strategic expansion within AATF

As industries across the continent evolve, the demand for accurate testing, quality assurance, and advanced laboratory capabilities continues to grow. In response, AATF is expanding its scope to include Future Labs Africa—initially as a focused pavilion within the show, with a clear roadmap to grow into a co-located exhibition in future editions.

Future Labs Africa will cover the full laboratory and testing ecosystem, including analytical testing and instrumentation, quality control and assurance, automation, robotics and artificial intelligence, research and development, and testing, inspection and certification.

By integrating this pavilion within AATF, the platform connects laboratory science directly with automation and industrial technology, enabling a more holistic approach to innovation. The co-location brings together global technology providers, industry leaders, and decision-makers, creating new opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and business development.

The platform will serve a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, process and automation, automotive, food and beverage, chemical and petrochemical, mining and metals, agriculture and agri-processing, logistics and warehousing, energy, construction, technology, research and development, and pharmaceuticals.

A platform built for industry impact

Future Labs Africa places strong emphasis on practical application. Visitors can expect to experience technologies in action, gain insights from industry experts, and explore how laboratory advancements are improving efficiency, safety, and performance across sectors.

With nearly three decades of success, AATF has established itself as Africa’s leading automation and technology platform. The introduction of Future Labs Africa marks a strategic evolution—broadening the event’s scope while reinforcing its role as a driver of industrial innovation.

“Future Labs Africa represents a natural extension of AATF,” says Carol Weaving, Managing Director of RX Africa. “Laboratory science and testing are becoming increasingly critical as industries move toward more data-driven, quality-focused operations. This pavilion creates a platform to connect these capabilities with automation and industrial technology, with a clear vision to grow into a dedicated exhibition over time.”

Future Labs Africa is positioned to become a key meeting place for professionals shaping the future of testing, research, and scientific innovation in Africa. Companies interested in exhibiting are invited to be part of the inaugural pavilion and position their solutions at the forefront of industrial transformation.
